Several East Texas counties drop in health rankings

The county health rankings are in and many East Texas counties have dropped in the rankings.

The rankings measures a variety of statistics -- like obesity, smoking and high school graduation rates.

The Northeast Texas Public Health District says there is some encouraging news in the report, but acknowledged there is room for improvement.

This year, Smith County ranked 83 out of 232 counties for health factors. Last year, Smith County ranked 65th.

Gregg County ranked 185th this year, dropping two spots from last year. Cherokee County fell seven spots to 181.
