Bobcats Look To Return To Playoffs

District 17-4A may be the toughest 4A district in the state, with five of the eight teams coming off playoff appearances. The Hallsville Bobcats are one of those teams. The purple and gold have enough holdovers and defensive prowess to make a run at anybody. And no matter who you talk to in the state, they've heard of the Bobcats blue chip linebacker and tailback, Rodderick Muckleroy. They're state-ranked and picked by fellow district coaches to make the playoffs again.

"I appreciate what the coaches poll says," said Head Coach Roger Adams.  "All that does is put a target on your back, where everybody's shooting at you. We're pleased where they put us. We want to prove we can win back to back years and get back to the playoffs."

The Bobcats jump in head first, traveling to Atlanta on September 3 to take on the defending 3A Division II State Champs.

When it comes to the Cowboys, there is always off-the field news to talk about. And this week, the team is actually in action for organized team activities. On Tuesday, word came down about defensive end David Irving appealing a four-game suspension for violating the league's substance abuse policy. Wednesday afternoon, running back Ezekiel Elliott dominated headlines after being in a car accident on Sunday night.
