Good Tuesday afternoon, everyone.
Here's some of what we're working on for you in the newsroom today:
Today on East Texas News at 4, we have a vast array of fun and informative videos, as well as some more serious stories, such as the state of Washington rejecting an artist's 9/11 memorial. We'll tell you why, and also will let you know about a memorial for the Florida man who was killed in his own home when a sinkhole swallowed him alive.
At 5, there's been a big change in the fight for gun control. Sen. Feinstein says an assault weapons ban will not be part of the initial gun control measures the Senate will debate next month. We'll tell you why tonight.
And at 6,Smith County Commissioners Court approved the petition signatures for alcohol sales, meaning that now, folks in precinct 1 will be allowed to vote on alcohol sales in their area in November. Also, a great update on Chapel Hill football player Dorian Timmons. There's been some improvement in his condition, though he is still hospitalized. More on that at 6.
Don't miss Chief Meteorologist Mark Scirto's weather forecast; he's live from the StormTracker7 Weather Center at 4, 5, and 6! (have you downloaded our free weather app for your smartphone? It's amazing and completely free!)
