Kilgore College advances to second round

HUTCHINSON, KS (KLTV) -

It took Kilgore College 19 years to return to the NJCAA Men's Basketball National Championship Tournament.  The Rangers aren't in any hurry to leave.  The No. 15 overall seed easily took care of Shelton State (AL) 80 to 55 in the first round on Monday.   

The Rangers were impressive on offense, with ten different players scoring at least 4 points.  Lonnie McClanahan led the way with 19 points.  Maurice Taylor added 13.  Kilgore shot a blistering 65 percent from the field.

Kilgore advances to round two.  The Rangers will face No. 2 seed Spartanburg Methodist (S.C.) on Wednesday at noon.  Spartanburg is 32 and 0.
