The Adopt-a-Highway program began their annual spring cleaning on Sunday.

Volunteers will be out in full force this week to clean up Brown County's highways. The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet announced its Spring Clean Week is March 17 through the 23.

"The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet appreciates the efforts of our Adopt-a-Highway volunteers who help keep our highways and communities beautiful and litter free," said Transportation Secretary Mike Hancock in a press release.

Nearly 750 groups participate in Kentucky's Adopt-a-Highway  program. Volunteers clean approximately 5,100 miles of roadside annually.
