GREGG COUNTY, TX (KLTV) -
Running for a cause to give
others the freedom of mobility was the focus of an annual event in Gregg County Saturday.
It was the 3rd annual Ambucs Longview Running Club Half Marathon, winding its way through the streets
of Longview. Close to 570 runners took part in the event, which is held to help
raise money to buy ambucs trikes, wheelchairs and vehicular access for
disabled children, and to raise awareness for the needs of disabled children.
Event Co-organizer Alan Lizza says, "Well this is a great time of year, people
start getting out and so it's a healthy event which meets our objective to
enhance the health of the community and just bring social awareness of children
with disabilities."
Organizers hope to raise between 18 and 25-thousand dollars
through Saturday's run.
