Arizona Cardinals release QB Kevin Kolb

Posted: Updated:
PHOENIX (CBS5) -

The Arizona Cardinals have officially parted ways with quarterback Kevin Kolb.

The Cardinals announced Friday morning they had released Kolb.

Kolb joined the Cardinals in 2011 in a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles. But his short career with Arizona was marred by injuries and the signing of free-agent quarterback Drew Stanton made Kolb expendable.

Arizona will save a $2 million roster bonus due Kolb on March 17.

Kolb appeared in 15 games - 14 as a starter - over two seasons for Arizona and completed 255 of 436 passes (58.4 percent) with 17 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.

Brian Hoyer, signed late last season, Ryan Lindley and John Skelton are the other quarterbacks on the Cardinals' roster.
