A Smith County family's home is a complete loss after a morning fire.
Just after 8:45 a.m., Noonday, Flint, Lindale and Dixie Fire Departments responded to a fire in the 3600 block of County Road 1155 at O'neall Street.
According to authorities, at one point there were flames showing out of three windows.
A man, his wife and their 7-year-old granddaughter were in the home, but managed to get out safely. There were three pets inside the house at the time of the fire. One pet was rescued, but two have not been located yet.
According to Smith County Fire Marshal Jim Seaton, the house is a complete loss. However, he is still waiting on investigators to determine the exact cause of the fire.
According to the homeowner, he put water on the stove top to boil then left the kitchen. When he came back into the room the fire had started. The homeowner thought he successfully put the fire out, but a little while later a neighbor knocked on the door and told him that his garage was on fire.
It is believed four wheelers full of gasoline in the garage helped accelerate the fire.
