Vehicles destroyed in salvage yard fire

Multiple fire crews have contained a fire at an East Texas salvage yard.

The fire broke out around 6:30 P.M. Wednesday at TKO Auto Salvage on county road 2767 in Tyler.

The fire sent black smoke into the skies over downtown Tyler. Authorities tell us the fire started in a burn barrel at the property next door, then spread to some nearby vehicles at the salvage yard.

At least ten cars were destroyed, but no injuries were reported.

A citation is expected to be issued to the person who started the fire.
