On Wednesday, officials with the Smith County Sheriff's Office announced the arrest of the suspect in a shooting in Smith County.
Rodrick Cridell Reece, 19, was arrested in conjunction with a shooting on Thursday on County Road 1113 near Highway 155. Acting on a tip, sheriff's deputies found Reece at a residence on a county road near the crime scene.
Reece was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and felon in possession of a firearm.
The individual who was shot during the incident has been treated and released from a Tyler hospital.
A woman who claims she witnessed the shooting says her ex-boyfriend, Reece, shot his cousin then fled the scene. She says the two men got into an argument and Reece left the property and returned with a gun.
