A Texas 10 Most Wanted Sex Offender is now in custody after being arrested in Longview on Tuesday by Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Criminal Investigations Division agents.
Michael Wayne Hopson, 57, was wanted for failure to register as a sex offender in Anderson County, Texas, and indecent exposure in Payne County, Oklahoma.
Hopson was arrested around noon on Tuesday at a local soup kitchen in Longview and was taken into custody without incident. Hopson's criminal history includes multiple charges of indecent exposure and failure to register as a sex offender.
According to DPS. Hopson's last known address was on North Glenwood Boulevard in Tyler.
This arrest was not a result of a tip and no reward will be paid.
So far in 2013, DPS and other agencies have arrested nine Texas 10 Most Wanted Fugitives and Sex Offenders, and $10,000 in rewards has been paid for tips that resulted in arrests. The cash rewards are funded by the Governor's Criminal Justice Division.
