WEST MEMPHIS, AR -

(WMC-TV) - A woman's body was found in a West Memphis drainage bayou just before 1 p.m. Tuesday.

The body belongs to that of a woman, estimated to be between 30 and 45 years old. It was found partially submerged in the bayou on the 200 block of South Worthington Drive near Worthington Park.

Investigators say there are no obvious signs of trauma and the body was sent to the Arkansas State Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy.

"This investigation is obviously in its early stages and we hope to have a positive identification very soon and make proper notification to the victim's family," said Captain Ken Mitchell in a written statement. "At this time, there are no other details that the West Memphis Police Department feels are appropriate to release."

Neighbors say the walking trail nearby is hardly ever used and there has not been enough recent water in the ditch for a body to have washed up.
