The city of Tatum is taking up protecting motorcycle riders nearly a year after one of their own was killed.
In April of 2012, Jacky Johnston, known to friends as "ZZ" was killed outside of his driveway near Chapel Hill.
Surveillance video shows Johnston's bike being dragged by a truck for nearly a mile on Highway 64.
Monday night, the city of Tatum proclaimed the month of May as Motorcycle Awareness Month.
A group of Johnston's friends brought the proclamation to the city.
"If we can stop that happening again, that's what we really want to do, we really want to just stop foolish drivers, foolishness in general, and just save our buddies and save our rear ends too," says Tim Flournoy, a friend of Johnston's.
An arrest warrant has been issued for 54-year-old Eduardo Viramontes of Ben Wheeler in connection to this case.
Officials believe Viramontes was driving the truck that killed Johnston.
Johnston's son is offering a $10,000 reward for anyone with information that leads to Viramontes' conviction.
