Phoenix police are looking for a man who robbed a J. C. Penny store.

Phoenix police spokesman Sgt. Steve Martos said the suspect pretended to be a customer at the jewelry counter on Feb. 27, and when the clerk unlocked the glass counter, the suspect got out a handgun and jumped over the counter.

Police said the suspect put about $13,000 worth of jewelry in a white garbage bag and fled the store located in the 1700 block of West Bethany Home Road.

He was seen getting in the passenger side of a 1996-1997 white Chevy Suburban with a silver roof rack. The vehicle was driven by an unknown man.

The robbery suspect is described as a 6' tall black man, between the ages of 40 to 49.
