The Smith County Sheriff's Department has confirmed the name of the man wanted in a shooting yesterday afternoon in Smith County.
According to the sheriff's department, a warrant was issued yesterday for 29-year-old Rodrick Reece after deputies responded to a shooting on Lake Placid Road just off of Highway 155 outside Loop 323 in Tyler. The sheriff's department has instructed local law enforcement to be on the look out for Reece.
A woman who claims she witnessed the shooting says her ex-boyfriend, Reece, shot his cousin then fled the scene. She says the two men got into an argument and Reece left the property and returned with a gun.
She says her ex-boyfriend fired two shots into the air before shooting his cousin in the side.
Officials have not confirmed what the witness says she saw.
Reece has been booked into the Smith County Jail 14 times in the last 13 years. Violent offenses include assault, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury.
