
JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - Tevin Lindsey scored 23 points, Duke Upshaw added 16 and Baldwyn beat Bassfield 66-46 to capture the boys Mississippi 2A state championship.
Lindsey shot 9 of 17 from the field, including 5 of 12 from 3-point range to earn Most Valuable Player honors. Upshaw made 6 of 10 shots from the field and added six rebounds.
Martell Brown added 11 points, 10 rebounds, six assists and four steals.
Baldwyn (32-3) won its first state title since back-to-back championships in 1986 and 1987. It was the third time in the past four years the Bearcats have made the title game.
Bassfield (24-6) was led by Ron Logan's 13 points. The Yellowjackets shot just 1 of 13 (7.7%) from 3-point range.
