Posted: Updated:

From the Tyler Police Department:

On 03-06-2013 at approximately 8:45pm, two Tyler Police motorcycle traffic officers were riding by the Army Navy Store in the 1200 block of the SSE Loop.  They heard an audible alarm coming from the business.

The officers stopped to investigate and located a large hole that had been cut into the back of the building.  While awaiting the arrival of additional officers to check the building, a white male wearing black clothing was observed exiting the woods to the north of the business and proceeding across Loop 323.

Officers detained the subject, who confessed to having broken into the building.  He was found to be in possession of a pair of gloves and a flashlight stolen from the business as well as a small axe that had been used to cut through the wall.

The suspect is identified as:  Richard Moore, DOB 08-13-1992.  He is being transported to ETMC for treatment of an unrelated cut on his leg and then to Smith County Jail where he will be booked in for Burglary of a building.
