FLORENCE, AL (WAFF) -

Two UNA students will go before the university conduct board, accused of attempted rape after an incident inside the on-campus apartments in Florence on Circular Road.

The two students are members of the Lion football team.

Officials in the university athletic department said no disciplinary actions have been taken against the two men because no charges or formal complaints have been filed.

Campus police said the two students met a 40-year-old woman at a bar in Muscle Shoals and she came back to the apartment with them.

At one point, the woman went to use the restroom, and that is when she claims one of the men grabbed her, threw her on the bed, and tried to take advantage of her. She said she managed to fight him off and leave the apartment.

Investigators said the woman left the home without injuries and that she has not returned to file a formal complaint or charges against the men.

"There was a lot of alcohol involved," said UNA Police Department Chief Bob Pastula. "The circumstances were ripe for getting into problems, but nothing really occurred. She called 911. She left without any injuries or violations, so we were lucky in that respect."

This case is being handed over to the university conduct board for review.
