Boot Camp Leader Given Prison Term

A former Smith County boot camp leader is heading to prison.

Sgt. Maj. James Watley was sentenced today to one year behind bars for official oppression.

The original charge was attempt at sexual assault of a child. The alleged victims were a teenage boot camp participant and her teenage sister, who was on probation at the time. The prosecutor says the victims' family requested the change in the charge, to which Watley pleaded guilty.

In June, Watley was also convicted and sentenced to 10 years in prison for aggravated perjury.
