CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -
A man plead not guilty on Friday for the shooting death of a La Salle High School student.
Dierres Lee is charged with two alternative counts of murder and two alternative counts of felonious assault for the death of Justin Brown.
On Feb. 24, Brown and three friends drove to the area of 1700 Carll Street in Fairmount at approximately 8:30 p.m. to buy drugs from Lee. They used counterfeit money to buy the marijuana. After Lee sold them the drugs, and as they drove away, Lee fired into the vehicle striking Brown in the back of the neck. His friends took Brown to Good Samaritan Hospital for treatment. He was later transferred to University Hospital where he died.
Lee was quickly identified as the shooter and arrested the next day at his father's home.
"This is another sad case of a young person dying because of drugs," said Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deters. "Drug dealing is a dangerous business for both the buyer and seller and, unfortunately, it claims too many young lives"
On Friday, Lee plead not guilty and a judge kept his bond at $1.5 million.
If convicted, he faces the possibility of life in prison.
