Tyler lawmaker sponsors bill to expand craft beer sales

Posted: Updated:

AUSTIN, TX (KLTV/AP) - Craft beer brewers are asking Texas lawmakers to open up the market.

Owners of brewpubs and smalls breweries are set to make their case to the

Senate Committee on Business and Commerce. They say the state's current Alcoholic Beverage Laws give an unfair advantage to big national distributors.

Republican Senator Kevin Eltife of Tyler has filed bills that would let small breweries sell beer during tours and let brewpubs sell their beer in retail stores.

Similar bills have failed in the last two legislative sessions.
