Inmate Working Outside Jail Escapes

A Smith County inmate working as a trusty escaped Sunday and is still on the loose.

Just before 2 p.m., a deputy noticed 26-year-old Jesus Angel Aguilera was missing from a group of inmates working clean-up duty around Trinity Mother Francis Rose Stadium in Tyler.  Authorities say Aguilera had asked to use the restroom and apparently jumped a fence to get away.

Aguilera had been in jail since mid-July on a misdemeanor charge of possession of alcohol in a dry area.  He now faces a felony escape charge.

If you have any information you're asked to call authorities.
