Jackson State beats Alabama A&M 60-57

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - Kelsey Howard scored 20 points and Christian Williams had 19 points to lead Jackson State to a 60-57 win over Alabama A&M on Saturday night in the regular-season finale for both teams.

The Tigers (11-22, 9-9 Southwestern Athletic Conference), who overcame a poor shooting effort, have won 4 of their last five games. Jackson State shot 38% (19 of 50) from the floor, while the Bulldogs made 42.9% (24 of 56) of their shots.

Jackson State led 58-54 with 14 seconds left when Willie Readus made a free throw. Alabama A&M's Nicholas West cut the deficit to 58-57 on his 3-pointer with 7 seconds remaining.

But two seconds later, Williams made two free throws that ultimately sealed it for the Tigers.

Jeremy Crutcher scored 13 points and grabbed nine rebounds for Alabama A&M (10-19, 6-12). Brandon Ellis had 10 points and Demarquelle Tabb pitched in with 10 rebounds.
