Leah Strain had 29 points and 10 rebounds to lead Woodland to a 64-53 victory over Prattville Christian on Friday in the Class 2A girls championship game. It's the school's first state title in any sport.
Woodland (34-2) trailed by three points early in the third quarter but Strain and Jaide Walker combined for 11 points in a 15-0 run.
Strain had a steal and passed to Walker for a layup to end the spurt and give Woodland a 42-30 lead.
Walker scored 16 points and Shalyn Strain added 10.
Leah Strain also had four steals and made 13 of 16 free throws.
Kristen Emerson led previously unbeaten Prattville Christian (34-1) with 37 points, 12 rebounds, five assists and three blocked shots.
She was 12-of-24 shooting and made 11 of 15 free throws.
Prattville Christian opened up an early 11-4 lead but Strain scored seven points during a 9-0 run.
