The Longview Police Department is warning citizens of a new telephone scam.
The scam involves a person calling the victim and telling them they are going to receive a new Medicare card in the mail. The caller then asks the victim to verify their information by telling the caller their social security number and bank account information.
The Longview Police Department reminds everyone to never give out personal information over the phone. They say if you feel that the call may be a scam get as much information about the caller as possible and call police to make a report. Identity theft is the fastest growing crime in America.
