Recently recognized as the third best women's gymnastics program in the country, Texas East Gymnastics is set to host more than 500 athletes at the 7th Annual Rose City Classic.
One member of the Texas East Gymnastics family will not be able to compete this weekend.
Ceilie Crawford suffers from scoliosis, which caused an abnormal curve in her spine. Last July, the 14 year old had major surgery at the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children.
Portions of the proceeds from this weekends Rose City Classic will be donated to the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital in Ceilie's honor.
"It feels good because I know that money will go to good use and to other people that have scoliosis and any other surgeries that need to be done to other children," said Crawford.
Crawford just returned to workouts three weeks ago. She says will no longer be able to compete in every gymnastics event.
"I'm not really bummed," said Crawford. "I'm open to more things now since I can't do everything in gymnastics. It's not sad because I can still do other things."
The Rose City Classic is March 1-3 at UT Tyler's Patriot Center.
