King's Academy looks to repeat as TCAL state champs

Tyler King's Academy is headed back to state for the second straight year.  The Knights are the defending state champs in the TCAL.  A repeat will be much more difficult as the Knights have made the jump from class 1A to 2A.

"We came in to the state tournament last year in the same situation and came out with the state championship," said senior Caleb Groth.  "Hopefully we repeat this year. I'm pretty excited about it."

King's Academy opens state tournament Thursday morning in Frisco against No. 1 ranked Allen Academy.

"These guys can pull of miracles in a moment," said head coach Dodie Wilson.  "I've seen them pull off 29 points in the 4th quarter to pull off a game. So I'm really excited to see what they do."

When it comes to the Cowboys, there is always off-the field news to talk about. And this week, the team is actually in action for organized team activities. On Tuesday, word came down about defensive end David Irving appealing a four-game suspension for violating the league's substance abuse policy. Wednesday afternoon, running back Ezekiel Elliott dominated headlines after being in a car accident on Sunday night.
