Phil Castles is officially the new head football coach and athletic director at Henderson High School. The Kilgore native was welcomed to his new home on Monday afternoon. A former head coach at Chapel Hill, Castles has spent the past four years in Corsicana.
"We've always been fond of this area and loved it in Chapel Hill and Tyler and of course grew up in Kilgore," said Castles. "All those things combined make it a perfect fit for us."
Castles will now compete with Kilgore and Chapel Hill in the District of Doom.
"We're excited about the challenge," said Castles. "Sure you are nervous, you're in there with some of the top 3A programs in Texas. That doesn't change. It's also thrilling to be apart of that. It's good football and recognized all over the state and in East Texas."
