Gift Of Love: Chandler, A Charming Young Boy

"My favorite part was when he first became Spider Man," says Chandler as he walks up to the Times Square Cinema in Tyler. Chandler loves going to the movies. Especially, when it's to see his hero. "Two tickets to spider man, please."

As he enters the theater, he's met by the owner, Frank Charba. "Times Square Cinema wanted to give you this Spider Man shirt. Enjoy the movie, O.K." Chandler responds with a big hug and a big "thank you."

Like the action packed movie, this 13 year old describes himself as "adventurous." He's hoping a door of opportunity will soon open leading to the Gift Of Love. "I think about it all the time. Almost every night I think about it and what it would be like to have a home. Like a permanent home, instead of moving around home to home," explains Chandler.

"He really wants someone to look up to who will be there for him," says Tieraney Beall, caseworker with Child Protective Services.

Chandler has been in foster care just over a year, removed because of neglect. It's a lonely and dark chapter in his life. "Well, it's hard. It's real hard cause if I tell people at school they're going to start teasing me and be mean to me. You have to pretend who your not in order to keep yourself from being made fun of at school," says Chandler sadly.

Chandler is a very caring and loving boy, who attaches easily. He likes video games, sports, riding his bike and going to church. He thrives on the learning process and is very inquisitive. This 7th grader does well in school and gets along easily with other children. Tieraney says, "Overall, he's a great kid!"

Chandler is just an energetic, healthy 13 year old boy, but one who longs for a forever family. "I think he would give them lots of love, lots of attention. Anything he goes into he goes into with everything. So, he would be putting his heart in and his whole life on the line in order to fit into a family," says Tieraney.

Chandler adds, "I would like a family that would care for me and spend time with me and all kinds of other things."

But when it's all said and done, he's not real picky. "I don't care as long as it's a family. I just want the Gift Of Love."

For Chandler, it would be the ticket to a perfect ending, giving him a new hero to look up to.
