SABINE PARISH, LA (KSLA) -

The Texas driver of a 2011 Harley Davidson was killed Friday when her motorcycle struck a car turning in front of her on Hwy. 6 near Toledo Town, according to Louisiana State Police.

Michelle Jenkins Mendenhall, 46, of Hemphill, Texas, was driving east about 2:15 p.m. when a Toyota Avalon driven by Denise Rozas Billodeaux, 57, of Many, attempted to make a left turn.

Billodeaux's turn placed her car in the direct travel path of Mendenhall's motorcycle, which resulted in a collision, troopers say.

Mendenhall was wearing a helmet but was pronounced dead at the scene. Billodeaux, who was wearing her seatbelt and was not injured, was charged with improper turning.

Troopers say that toxicology tests are pending, and the crash remains under investigation.
