BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

Just one week after a federal judge agreed to cut short former Louisiana Gov. Edwin Edwards' court supervision following his release from prison, his wife announces that they are expecting a baby.

She made the announcement via Facebook Friday.  She wrote "As of today I am officially allowed to make that announcement I've been dying to make...WE ARE EXPECTING!! I still pretty sick, but I'm in my 12th week so hopefully I will be feeling better soon and we will be able to resume filming!"

A reality television show about the 85-year-old Edwards and his 34-year-old wife, Trina Scott Edwards, is scheduled to debut later this month on A&E.

Edwards was sentenced to three years of supervised release, however, he only served 18 months of that before a judge agreed to end it early.

Edwards served eight years in federal prison and six months of home detention after he was convicted in 2000 for his role in a riverboat casino licensing scandal.

When the town of Gilmer is mentioned in relation to sports, the Buckeyes powerhouse football program immediately comes to mind. And that's fair considering they have won three state titles and racked up 13 double digit win seasons since 2000. But a small 1A school about nine miles away deserves some attention these days as well.
