Strike Deadline Passes, Workers Remain On Job

The deadline has come and gone for a new contract between La Gloria Oil and Gas Company and union workers. More than 130 of those workers say they are prepared to go on strike at a moments notice.

For weeks the two sides have been in negotiations over a new contract. Union members asking for, among other things, increased wages and a safer work environment. Talks broke down earlier this week and union officials say there has been little progress since.

Union representatives say members will continue to work without a contract. But say without a contract, a strike could happen at anytime.
