Young ladies from all over Texas have come to Kilgore to try out for the states most exclusive dance troupe, the Kilgore rangerettes! After a week of intense drills and training some will have to go home, and a lucky few will make it.
"If you're going to be on a dance team you have got to be on the best of the best, and the rangerettes are by far the best" said Jennifer Bennett of New Braunfels.
32 positions are open for this years Kilgore rangerette squad... And 78 girls are trying out.
"When you get out there first you're thinking relax , take your time think about your first couple of moves" said 18 year old Lindsay Burris of Plano.
They come from big and small towns all over Texas to try out... They were the best in their own schools, but now face the pressure to measure to a higher level.
"I definitely feel the pressure because this is like my last chance , i hope to show them what i can do, i have to show them they have to pick me" says 19 year old Morgan Duplant, trying out for her second year from Beaumont.
Some are braving injuries because they want to make the team so badly. "This organization is all about respect and discipline and not only bettering your dance ability but bettering yourself" says 18 year old Amber McKee of Mt. Pleasant.
