82-year-old attacks home intruder

Good afternoon, everyone! How's your afternoon going for you?

Here's some of what we're working on for you in the newsroom today:

First, we'll visit with an 82-year-old man whose home was recently burglarized. He's a former football player, so he felt like he had the strength to stop the 27-year-old burglar. We'll tell you how it ended at 4.

At 5, we'll talk about the city of Tyler being named the number two place to retire in the whole country. Our Lauren Callahan spend the day learning why Tyler is such a great place to live during your golden years.

We'll also have Dr. Ed Dominguez at 5 discussing why Baby Boomers, though they're living longer than their parents, are actually suffering from more chronic disease than their parents and grandparents did.

And at 6, we'll get local reaction about the pope's resignation announcement. It seems everyone, even those outside the faith, were shocked by the unexpected news. We'll also cover all your local news, including the shooting at the mall in Tyler on Saturday. The shooter was in court today, and we were there.

We'll also have your most accurate local forecast from Chief Meteorologist Mark Scirto at 4, 5, and 6. Don't miss it!

Join us on the livestream on KLTV.com if you're not near a tv today. We also stream East Texas News Midday at 11:30 and East Texas News at 10, in case you weren't aware. We're here for you!
