Alabama Basketball tops LSU, 60-57

The Alabama men's basketball team beat LSU, 60-57, Saturday night in Coleman Coliseum. With this win, Alabama is 10-2 this season when scoring 60 or more points in a game. Overall the Crimson Tide is now 15-8 and 7-3 in Southeastern Conference play.

Sophomore forward Nick Jacobs led the team with 15 points while going 7-8 from the free throw line, including 4-4 down the stretch. LSU guard Anthony Hickey missed a half-court shot at the buzzer that would've sent the game into overtime had it gone in.

"It's a good win," UA Head Coach Anthony Grant said. "We knew LSU would fight all the way through and they did that, making it a one possession game at the end, but fortunately we were able to come up with a couple of stops on a couple of possessions and survive."

Alabama had three players in addition to Jacobs score in double digits Saturday. Junior guard Trevor Releford had 12 while sophomore guards Levi Randolph and Rodney Cooper each had 10. The Tide had a season-high 43 rebounds.

LSU, which came into the game with the most steals in the SEC, only grabbed three against the Tide. Tigers forward Johnny O'Bryant had a double-double, scoring a game-high 22 points and grabbing 11 rebounds.

"We struggled from an offensive standpoint, but I thought really, in both halves, our guys did a great job from the defensive stand point," Grant said. "Give LSU credit, I thought Johnny O'Bryant was terrific today."

Alabama plays again Tuesday, Feb. 12, against Georgia in Athens, Ga. Tipoff is set for 8 p.m. CT. The game will be televised by ESPNU and the radio broadcast will be carried on the Crimson Tide Sports Network.
