Crash injures pregnant woman, kills unborn child

WESTWOOD, OH (FOX19) -

Police are investigating a crash that seriously wounded a pregnant woman and killed her unborn child.

Authorities responded to an accident on Montana Avenue in Westwood around 11:40 a.m. Saturday morning.

Monica Brown, 22, was driving a Toyota Avalon eastbound on Montana Avenue when she lost control of her vehicle and struck a utility pole.

The Cincinnati Fire Department worked to remove Brown from her vehicle and transported her to Good Samaritan Hospital with serious injuries.

Police say Brown was not wearing a seatbelt.

Brown was pregnant in her third trimester at the time of the crash. Medical staff at Good Samaritan Hospital reported that the fetus would not survive as a result of injuries sustained in the crash.

Speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the crash.
