Three men and two juveniles are behind bars Wednesday night following their arrests by Shreveport Police officers in connection with an unauthorized entry and aggravated assault on Tuesday.
The arrested included Jacorey Huggins, 21, of the 500 block of Egan Street, Charavious Coleman, 17, of the 400 block of West 65th Street, and David Green, 17, of the 300 block of West 69th Street in Shreveport. The identity of the two juveniles was not released. All three men were booked into the Shreveport City Jail.
Additional charges of aggravated assault were brought against David Green, while Jacorey Huggins was booked as a fugitive due to an outstanding warrant from another jurisdiction.
The two juvenile suspects were transported and booked into the Caddo Parish Juvenile Detention Center and charged with unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling.
Authorities credit the arrests of the offenders in part to the swift response of officers to the scene, cooperation from neighbors, along with the training and competence of K-9 resources.
The incident began shortly before 1:30 p.m., when Shreveport Police officers went to a home in the 200 block of West 69th Street in response to reports that a group of males, one allegedly armed with a hand gun, threatened bodily harm against a person who lived on the street.
Witnesses told police that the males later were seen running inside a home in the 300 block of West 69th Street. Police arriving to the house ran into the homeowner, who allowed police to search his residence.
After a K-9 unit arrived, three of the males complied with officer demands to come out. The two who remained were caught by K-9 Mico and his handler, Chris Yarborough, after the two did not come out on command.
Two juvenile suspects were treated for minor injuries resulting from a dog bit suffered during their capture.
