An East Texas family scrambled to safety when their home caught fire overnight. The fire broke out around 3 this morning at a home on highway 64 just west of highway 42, west of Henderson. The homeowners were awakened to flames in their bedroom , and raced to get out with their 4-month old grandchild. A home heater is thought to be the cause. Equally tragic, the fire happened on the anniversary of the female homeowners loss of her two sons in a car accident.
"Her boys died one year ago on February 4th, its the one year anniversary its just now been a year and dealing with this now she loses her home and everything she has to her name," said family friend Shalealia Jordan.
There were no injuries, but the homeowners lost everything. Friends are trying to set up a fund to help the family.
