Sacrifice pays off for parents on National Signing day

It's a day many parents and their kids have waited for. Wednesday was National Signing Day, where area athletes announce what colleges they're going to.

However, it's not just about the players, but rather some of the parents who made this day possible.

Over 35 football players from the Greater Miami Conference announced the school of their choice at Voice of America Park, as their proud families looked on.

Parents reflected on the hundreds of practices and games that got them to this point.

Each player, from area schools like Mason, Princeton, Hamilton, Lakota West, Oak Hills, Sycamore, Colerain and more, represented their future school and thanked the ‘real team' that got them there.

Parents like Ruby Dee sacrifice and working multiple jobs to their kids reach their goals.

"You gotta get up at 4 in the morning, get them to practice, buy them gear… It's a lot but it's a blessing that he's going to that school," said Dee.

The celebration and hard work will continue for the football players and their families again once school starts in the fall.
