New Nacodoches sheriff, staff say they have accomplished a great deal in a month

NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) -

In just one month, Nacogdoches County Sheriff Jason Bridges and his staff say they have accomplished a lot.

Chief Deputy Steven Godfrey said they have recovered more than $42,000 in stolen property, seized more than 24 pounds of marijuana, and put in 1,000 training hours.

Godfrey said training is very important, and both he and the sheriff want their officers to have as many tools in their tool box as possible.

"Does the sheriff, does myself and does CID, have to pick up the role of multiple hats to assist with calls of service, so these guys can take off and go to training?" Godfrey said. ‘That's what we've been doing, and that's what we'll continue to do until we get the level of expertise that our citizens deserve."
