GEORGETOWN, OH (FOX19) -
Dozens of seniors have been displaced after a Georgetown nursing home is
forced to close its doors.
The MeadowWood Care Center owners say they are forced to shut down because
of two violations at the facility, a leak in the roof and bad carpeting.
As a result, 60 residents were displaced and over 80 employees will lose
their jobs.
Seniors effected will need to find a new living situation, which the owner
argues could be potentially harmful to their health, considering their age and
condition.
The Center for Medicare and Medicaid cut back on the care center's
government funding because violations were not fixed in time, which effected 55
of the 60 residents living there.
Officials say they gave 60 days for MeadowWood to fix the problems, but changes
were never made during that time frame.
