Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear was in town Monday for an economic development announcement.
Beshear announced that Newly Weds Foods is investing $57 million and bringing 115 jobs to Northern Kentucky.
Newly Weds Foods, Inc., a family-owned business that produces bread crumbs, cracker crumbs, dry batter mixes and spice blends, proposed a project in December to add a location in Boone County.
Company officials say the business began in 1932, and now has manufacturing and service facilities in more than 68 countries and employs more than 2,400 people worldwide.
"Newly Weds Foods is an international manufacturer and distributor of food ingredients that are used in thousands of products consumed around the world," said Gov. Beshear. "We're proud to welcome Newly Weds Foods to Northern Kentucky and the Commonwealth. Soon more retail products on grocery store shelves and prepared items on restaurant menus in North America will contain ingredients made in Kentucky."
"Demand for our products is growing around the world and Northern Kentucky provides a central location with an excellent workforce and transportation system," said Charles T. Angell, Newly Weds Foods president. "We will be able to improve our service to our customers with this facility in Northern Kentucky. We appreciate the level of cooperation and assistance provided to us from Boone County, Tri-ED, the local business community up to the Governor's office."
Newly Weds Foods purchased an existing 326,000-square-foot facility located at 4455 Olympic Boulevard in the Circleport Business Park in Erlanger, Boone County, Ky., near the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport.
Governor Beshear has always stressed maintaining strong business relationships and creating new jobs throughout the state.
Governor Beshear recently announced KentuckyOne Health plans to move its headquarters to Louisville, Ky. He says the move is a $5.5 million investment in the community and comes with 10 new full time jobs.
In 2010, Forbes magazine ranked Kentucky Number 31 for the best states for business.
