A man who crawled through a ventilation shaft Saturday, to escape from an East Texas jail, is once again in custody.
Samuel Christopher Gentry was arrested by police in New Boston late Saturday night. Gentry had spent the day on the run from authorities after he broke out of the Franklin County Jail in nearby Mount Vernon.
Authorities said he used toilet paper to stuff a pair of pants and socks, to make it appear as if he were sleeping. He was then able to get out of the jail using a 1 by 1 foot ventilation shaft.
Along with his original charges of burglary, Gentry will be hit with a felony escape charge. Franklin County Sheriff Chuck White said adjustments will be made to the jail to insure this type of escape doesn't happen again.
