Downtown Tyler was filled with the sounds of jazz Saturday.
The first ever Rose City Jazz and Heritage Festival was held on the square. Six bands from all across the region showed off their stuff on the main stage. The bands included George Faber and Friends, Pat Franklin, Otis and the Metro Band and 14k Joseph Vincelli.
The idea for the festival came from Faber, who heads up the visual and performing arts department at Tyler Schools. He said the music is a showcase of the talent in the region.
All proceeds from the concert will go towards scholarships at local colleges. They plan to continue the festival next year.
