BULLITT COUNTY, KY (WAVE) - A woman lives in pain every day after a wreck caused by someone else - someone who has not come forward even after 9 months.
Julie Patton is back to work, but struggles to begin her day as she continues healing from 14 broken ribs, a broken collar bone, face lacerations and several internal injuries.
"UofL (University of Louisville Hospital) didn't think I was going to walk out of the hospital. I told them I wasn't leaving until I was walking," said Patton.
The Bullitt County mother was ejected from her family's SUV when a white Ford Ranger pickup truck nearly hit their vehicle head on. Her son, who was driving, swerved off the road, but still clipped the truck. Patton was air lifted to University Hospital.
"I'm very angry they couldn't even stop to help my children," Patton said. "My children were left on the side of the road, a very dangerous road."
Since her release, she's pleading for the driver to come forward so she and her family can have closure.
"I would just like for someone to come forward," said Patton. "I understand things happen but I would like to know who caused this. I would like to know if I pass them every day."
Bullitt County Sheriff's Office detectives have not charged anyone with the hit and run, but investigators have identified a person of interest and sent evidence to a lab for testing.
Detectives are asking the public to contact the Sheriff's Office if you have any information. You can also support Patton's recovery and help offset medical bills by visiting her Facebook page.
