The Storm Prediction Center has placed all of East Texas in a slight risk for severe weather beginning tomorrow afternoon and throughout the evening hours.
A strong, fast moving cold front is likely to move through our area late Tuesday afternoon/evening. With the very warm and moist air mass in place, there will be a good chance for showers and thunderstorms and a slight risk for severe weather as well. Rainfall totals are likely be near 1" in most locations. Some may see a little less and others a little more.
The greatest threat will likely be strong/dangerous thunderstorm winds in excess of 60 mph in the strongest thunderstorms. These storms are likely to move very, very quickly toward the NE as low level winds will be steering these storms in that direction. The risk for hail and tornadoes will be low; however, certainly not out of the picture. We will keep you posted on these threats if they change.
Once the front moves through East Texas, the threat for severe weather will diminish rapidly.
