
NACOGDOCHES, Texas (AP) - Desmond Haymon scored 16 points and pulled down 10 rebounds Saturday night to lead Stephen F. Austin to its 11th consecutive victory, 72-49 over Nicholls State.
Taylor Smith added 14 points, six assists, five rebounds and six blocks for the Lumberjacks (16-1, 7-0 Southland), who continued their best start to a season since joining Division I in 1987.
Jacob Parker chipped in 13 points.
Fred Hunter led all scorers with 22 points and Jeremy Smith had 10 for the Colonels (4-12, 3-3), who shot 40 percent from the field and were outscored 40-18 in the paint.
Nicholls State had just six assists and 15 turnovers.
Stephen F. Austin never trailed after the opening minutes, leading 36-23 at halftime and by as many as 26 in the second half.
The Lumberjacks held their opponent under 70 points for the 49th consecutive game, a streak that dates to last season.
