Pine Tree soccer star one goal from No. 100

LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) -

Nothing but net.

Amanda Wallin is rewriting the record books for Pine Tree soccer.

Many by foot.

"I did get a header goal once," said Wallin.  "That was awesome because I don't head the ball much. I remember that one."

One of many, many goals, by the Pine Tree senior.

"When I was a freshman, seniors challenged me to beat the record. I doubted it. I was like 'I'm not going to get there.'"

Wallin got there in a hurry. She reached the school record of 84 goals by her junior year.  With her senior season just getting started, Wallin is one shot away from 100 career goals.

"Really a lot of times I'm just in the right place and my teams sets me up for a goal," said Wallin.  "It really has nothing to do with me."

Wallin has been in the right place 99 times.

"Last year in the playoffs, she scored in every playoff game," said Pine Tree head coach Daniel Rich.  "Even in our final game against Highland Park. She was the first to score on them in the playoff run, which they went on to win the state tournament."

This year Wallin hopes to score a goal in the state championship game. It would be her final chance on the soccer field. The No. 1 goal scored in Pine Tree history is giving up the game she loves, to attend Texas A&M.

"Soccer has been apart of my life for 13 years," said Wallin.  It hurts a little bit. I think it's going to hit me more at the end of the season. I'm coming to that point.

Wallin may hang up her cleats, but she has 99 reasons to smile.
