Rangers Winter Caravan comes to Tyler

They may play in Arlington, but they are the Texas Rangers.  The fan base extends all over the state, including Tyler.  A big turnout showed up to Academy Sports for the Rangers Winter Caravan.

Pitchers Justin Grimm, Michael Kirkman, infielder Mike Olt, coach Dave Anderson and broadcaster Tom Grieve all signed autographs.

"It's our chance to show what the 'T' is all about," said Grimm.

The Rangers report to spring training in less than a month.  With so many big names leaving the team in the offseason, a new core is ready to make its mark.

"Losing those guys this off season will be tough for all of us," said Olt.  "But we made some new additions that will help a lot. It does give us young guys a shot to get in there and get comfortable and make a name for ourselves."

The Rangers are eager to return to the top of the American League, after an early playoff exit in 2012.

"It's fuel for the fire," said Kirkman.  "Everyone worked that much harder, we want to end up better than we did last year. We want to play better throughout the season too."
