ETX opened up their hearts & homes to give animals a 2nd chance

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

This morning on Good Morning East Texas, we put out a call to action about Duke, a 6 month old Australian cattle dog who was on doggie death row and East Texas opened up their hearts and homes.

Well....Duke has been saved. He is now in a loving foster home.

But the good news doesn't stop there. Merry, Duke's playmate has a new home. She was adopted Wednesday and her new owners are picking her up tomorrow.

Bear, an older chocolate lab, he got adopted too. Plus, Clifford, a lab/mastiff mix that was out of time got adopted too.

Daisy will be going to the Humane Society of Angelina County tomorrow, which is a no-kill shelter.

And there's more, in addition to saving these 4 dogs, a great pyrenees mix was adopted and 2 puppies, Nugget and Presley also have new loving homes.

There are still plenty of animals that need homes or foster parents. Staff at the Kurth Memorial Animal Shelter say you can come by any time and see if you connect with an animal in need of love.
